Vanaf ca. 1850 heeft de fotografie de schilderkunst de verbeelding gegeven. De fotografie houdt zich niet alleen bezig met een realistische weergave. Het licht is de kwast voor de fotograaf geworden en geeft mij oneindig veel mogelijkheden om eigenzinnige prenten te maken. Fotograferen is schilderen met licht.

From around 1850, photography has given painting the imagination. Photography is not only concerned with a realistic representation. Light has become the brush for the photographer and gives me endless possibilities to create idiosyncratic images. Photography is painting with light.
